During the best of times, I have so much to be grateful for. Noticing the little things that I’m thankful for is much easier during these times. When the going gets tough, and my back is against the proverbial wall, this is when the power of gratitude is a must. At all times, there are so many things I can recognize as blessings in my life. Here’s a small sample of what I am grateful for:
- A loving God who desires my eternal joy.
- This beautiful earth with so much variety and resources.
- My immediate and extended family.
- Friends who care deeply.
- My talents and physical abilities.
- Food and shelter.
- Experiences and challenges that help me learn and grow.
- My health and energy.
- Kind and selfless neighbors.
- Excellent mentors and leaders to inspire me.
This list didn’t take me more than a few minutes to come up with. At any time, I can focus on this list to receive strength, peace, and joy. Even in the midst of frustration or discouragement, I can refocus on the things I’m thankful for. This immediately minimizes the difficulty I am struggling through and empowers me to overcome the difficulty. We all have this same opportunity. We may have some serious challenges ahead, but we can use the power of gratitude to conquer.
